What's your favourite jazz standard? 🎶🎷🎵🎤🎶 I had another amazing study day with the British Voice Association yesterday, exploring one of my favourite genres: Jazz! As a saxophonist, it certainly holds a special place in my heart, and jazz vocals often draw on and are compared to the saxophone. Hence, why I love this little quote from Billie Holiday's autobiography! It just sums up how spontaneity and emotion are KEY to Jazz. And that not knowing what's going to happen or how we'll feel when performing is what makes it so exciting!
Jazz streches singers creatively, rhythmically and harmonically. It encourages a unique, personal sound and teaches us to not be afraid to experiment! Most of all, it gets people to really connect with their voices and the music in that exact moment. So have a go! Add a standard or two to your repertoire! 🎶🎤🎵🎷🎶 .

So many creatives, musicians included, are having to deal with perfectionism on a daily basis.
This desire for perfection can prevent some musicians from ever reaching their potential.
It can even rob them of their self-belief and motivation.
Is this drive for perfection ever attainable in our own eyes?
How does it feel to believe that perfection is out of reach?
Is our perception of perfection a form of procrastination in disguise?
✨🎼Good morning! If you’re into trippy, ambient/ #psychedelic#music that helps you to #meditate , then you might enjoy this track🤘🏻. I composed it back in 2011, when I first began to see the connection between music and the spirit🦋. As a #neuroscience student, I was fascinated with the way that sound can control the rhythmicity of our #brain functions, and so I created my very first song to facilitate a state of flow and trance. It includes a vocal sample of #TerranceMckenna , a great philosopher & traveller, who began to fascinate me around that time🌟. The image is my UV Painting of the Eye of Horus, and ancient Egyptian symbol. •
