Should you be wearing a weightlifting belt? YES! At least according to Jim Stoppani, Ph.D. In his recent article “3 Key Benefits of Wearing a Weightlifting Belt”
I grew up in a bodybuilding era where the first piece of gym gear any serious athlete purchased was the weightlifting belt. How times change. Far fewer numbers of gym goers wear belts these days and lets be honest most of them really don’t train or exercise that intensely anyway.
If you are serious about making lasting change in your physique as a man or a woman, you have got to get yourself a quality weightlifting belt!
Here’s what Jim @jimstoppani says
1. Stabilize and reduce stress on the spine. Who doesn’t want to decrease compression if intervertebral discs by as much as 50%? 2. Belts create better body mechanics. Wearing a belt causes you to bend more at the hips and knees and less at the waist and those are desirable changes!
3. Belts beget better performance. Greater application of stress equals more profound adaptation, period!
According to Jonathan Heath McGrael, M.S. CSCS, owner of the World Famous Kissimmee Muscle 24 hour gym, there’s no more stylish way to accomplish these three goals than by getting yourself one of these awesome Kissimmee Muscle belts. Put away the girdles and strap one of these pieces of leather around your abs to train and tone the waist and make your glutes and shoulders look massive in the process

Evening guys, bit later than my usual daily post but I get em out whenever I get a free moment to do so!
Brilliant video sent to me from client @gcoopjnr88 who is down a fantastic 12kgs in bodyweight since he started up!
I ask clients to send me training videos from time to time so I can critique form but I can also look for ways to potentially break through plateaus and keep those #gains coming!
What I can see here with Glen is that he uses 100% perfect form on his pull downs. Straight Torso and pulls with the back using his hands simply as levers! Spot on!
What I have advised him which may surprise some is to loosen the form a little bit and to use what we might call 85% of perfect form.
A slight lean back in the upper torso and a little bit of a swing used on his top set can allow a much bigger poundage to be shifted which in turn I believe will continue to test the target muscles.
I will never encourage bad form but sometimes loosening up on some movements can pay dividends!
What do you guys think?

One of the hardest things I struggle with getting people to understand, are how anxious thoughts play a factor in my everyday life and relationships.
While I’ve learned to live with it and no one seems to notice, I still often worry so much about my relationships...
How a friend responds to a mistake, even when I apologize or a delayed answer, when staring at a text that shouldn’t have taken 12 minutes to type.
If I’m boring someone or making people feel uneasy with my quietness.
The constant stream of rewinding unpleasant interactions and beating myself up for it.
The tone of a text or email, even though there was no tone at all and I reread it just to make sure.
The uncertainty of a relationship as I dissect past interactions and dialogue.
Even though he said, “I’m crazy about you.” It’s wondering if their mind will suddenly change abruptly and how I wouldn’t handle that.
The constant fight and flight mode that gets exhausting.
The root of anxiety is someone who cares so much and wants to do and say everything right.
But the darker root of someone with anxiety derived from relationships or pattern of kinds of relationships, where individuals just leave without so much of an explanation or conversation.
Where respect isn’t met, when all the other person did was show unconditional love and respect they thought was mutual.
There are moments I need reassurance, moments I’m afraid to ask for it, because I know my train of thoughts sometimes aren’t logical.
I don’t want to seem clingy or needy, because along with needing people, I’ve also gotten good at being independent out of fear of needing anyone too much.
I know this is a mental illness that most people don’t even see, because of how I handle myself.
I often catch myself in internalize conversations, where all I want is the noise to be a little more quiet.
So when I come across the kinds of people who add confidence to me and the parts of myself I’m still grappling to overcome, all I want to scream is THANK YOU for making this easy, like, LOVING ME IS NOT AS MUCH A BURDEN as it feels sometimes. 😭💕
