Thank you @southwestair for taking the time to send this and recognizing me beyond the corridor of my flight into Denver. I love flying with you guys. You’re our number one #preferredairline - you guys are #awesome . Hopefully this flight is a little less exciting 😂 Totally #feelingthelove#iflyswa#iflyswa ❤️💙💛 #southwestairlines But honestly at this point, I’d have been happy just getting group A seating 😂

So last week, we covered how dehydration will affect your blood sugars in a major way, and how temporary basal rates can help prevent highs on longer flights…
But this week, here’s a couple more things to consider:
⭕️Keep your (low) snacks in your bag under the seat, on your person. Sounds obvious, but even having your low snacks in your carry on could be problematic if your blood sugar decides to tank during takeoff, landing, or any time when you can’t open the overhead bins….and flight attendants can’t bring you a sugary beverage
⭕️Your insulin needs are likely to be higher: remember that temporary basal I mentioned last week? Due to the altitude and dehydration, the insulin resistance can be REAL. You may need to take additional insulin for the food you consume on the plane.
⭕️Carry your diabetes supplies with you on the plane: again, seems obvious, but checking your supplies in your bag can be problematic if the airline loses your luggage. Likely? No. Possible? yes…and then you’re up shit’s creek
Do you use any of these strategies? What other strategies do you use when flying? Comment below!
My sixth and last trip to Chicago for Empowering Women Network (EWN). It was also my last #southwestairlines flight as they are leaving Newark airport in two weeks and my flight home is with #unitedairlines
After seeing the fully tattooed gate agent at SFO a few days ago, I believe #southwestairlines will be the first in the airline industry to really be even more inclusive to include those with visible tattoos. With a successful 20 plus year career, maybe my dreams of working for an airline (with all my ink) will finally come true 😃 #dreamjobs
Family vacations are so wonderful! We loved everything about our recent trip to Denver. We had many firsts this trip!
Our first time taking a little on a plane, Caroline’s first time on a plane, our first time in a hotel just the three of us, first time to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, our first time to Union Station in Denver, and I think my first time getting car sick.
Overall we had such a great time and were so excited for John’s cousin Kathleen and her new beginning as a beautiful bride!
Tell me have you been to Denver? We’ve been a couple times before but we’re planning to head back as we both have family there! What should we do? What should we see?
